I learned the easiest way to draw a rose last week. It is just so simple that I can not believe I had not figured it out earlier. My friend showed me how to do it. First you make a long, slanted line for the stem. Then at the top of the stem you make a leaf shape. This is the first petal of the rose, an outside petal. Then you make another line to create a “U” shape that outside of the last petal started. To make the illusion of the petals folding together you make a swirl between the two edges of the rose bloom, then you make some short lines pulling down from the swirl into the center of the rose to finish the illusion. Next you add two or more leaves along the stem, and then make a second line so the stem has thickness. Finally, you add a few thorns. And then you’ve got a basic rose.
